        COLD OR CHARITY

It was either a very cold day and we all had red noses or it was that time of year when the whole country goes mad collecting for charity, Ashdown although doing there own collecting for Epilepsy Research UK decided to get in to the swing of things and so Dave and 3 of his staff put on nightwear and when asked if it was what they normally wear to bed there spokes person replied "mam na sebe viac lebo je zima"

As we needed things from town Jade decided to wear hers to the shop

Tony celebrated his birthday on the 3rd April, he had several cards and presents from all 4 corners of the world and even had a chat to Cyprus.

Also on the agenda was sing and dancing and a trip out to Cockington for a cream tea

Dena celebrated her birthday on the 5th April with her family so we had to wait until the Monday for some of the birthday cake.

Dena enjoyed her birthday with the family and so the home to her afterwards for a cream tea to Cockington.

Eric oh young Eric always enjoys his birthdays, always smiling and chatting enjoyed yet another great day on the 17th, it's always great to see people enjoy a day like they have not had one before.

And what was his best present when asked, "all of them" as he has been a little under the weather it was decided that we will wait for the nice weather before his treat.

THEY GOT THERE OUR OWN BACK

For several years Debbie has been the ring leader in hen nights to her sister, now sister-in-laws and friends and on the 25th it was pay back time, there was rumours of an over night bag needed or a passport so Debbie arrived with trepidation and the evening began. The evening started around the area and at one point the ladies decided to test the strength of the tables outside various establishments, luckily she did manage to find the way home and had a hang over in the morning but then that's what it's all about. The home staff that attended indulged within moderation and were bright for duty the next day.

FUND RAISING

The fund raising is a bit slow at the moment so we enlisted the help of a special person, she is very busy with her other engagements but does spend time sitting on the bench collecting

The Bianco's £50 meal voucher was drawn on the 26th April by Mr. John Wilson and was won by Brenda Naish

We shall over the next week or so be holding a silent raffle for a round of golf for 4 people at  St Pierre Chepstow, this is a worthwhile offer as St Pierre is on of the United Kingdoms premier course holding several championships, Situated just across the border in to Wales (no passport needed) it is easier to get to. This is a great course and is great for any golfer male or female or as a gift for a family member, friend or as a prize.

MAY BIRTHDAY'S

Debbie 5th (Staff)

Joyce 11th

  A VERY SAD DAY

Over the years we have reported on several happy events birthdays and marriages and also on some events that were not, passing of dear friends and then there are staff leaving, its always a sad time when staff leave and on an overcast day in the middle of April a tearful Katarina (little bird to her friends) in formed us of her decision  that due to family health she would be leaving and returning to Slovakia for good, after 3 rolls of kitchen paper she informed the rest of the staff of her decision.

We asked her was there any thing she would be taking away from her time in England, we were expecting confidence, friends and work experience instead she said "Dusan" yes her partner could not bare to loose her so he will be returning as well.

They are planning a short holiday first and then leaving at the end of May, we have missed several of the staff when they have left and some even return to the happy fold but we are sure that the little bird will be missed.

ELECTED

The 26th April was a day to remember for Edwina as she was elected on to the Methodist Church council, she did not put herself forward but she was proposed and elected unanimously.

 A VERY HAPPY DAY

With every sadness there is happiness and over the years people have left and several have learned that there is no place like home, so with this in mind we welcome back after 8 months away learning all about work in the community "Silvia" who will start mid May.

 WHAT SHALL I DO

We heard early in the month or dear friend and visitor to the home Mr. John Wilson has decided to after a sabbatical retire from his post, the home wishes him the best in all his endeavours but by the sounds of things he will be extremely busy.

THE FISH MAN COMETH

On a bright spring morning it was noticed that the level in the Koi pond had fallen so a call was put in to South West Aquatics and without further ado Ross appeared calling out the fish man cometh, the was a small leak on the filter which he fixed and disappeared as quickly, We believe he was hiding under the patio.
