RELIEF

On a Beautiful Wednesday morning that was so typical of an autumn day the door bell rang, was it the milkman, postman, or the man from the pools with a big win no it was the inspector to undertake our annual inspection, The home had worked it out that it was due very soon and normally the inspector arrives on a Tuesday so for a change it was Wednesday and to cap things of a new inspector who had never been to the home before. For 5 hours we looked at, papers and files examined then she chatted to the nervous staff and some of the residents, then she left as quickly as she had come. At last and inspector who speaks our language but what will the report say will we keep or level 2 rating or go up to level 3 who knows so watch this space.

SAD DAY

Days come and go just like staff but then there are days that you wish did not happen, For near on 3 months Irene has been working at the home and as she was returning to work after raising a family we all wonder how she would fit in. We did not need to worry she fitted in, helpful, kind, considerate she would do anything for anyone at any time, she loved to chat about life and her family and very soon she was one of us. Then on a fateful day mid month she in formed us that for personal reasons she was not able to carry on, this was a very sad day but we understand her reasons, we are sorry to loose her but wish her well.

As some of our avid readers are aware the home has been sending parcels to help the people in Kabul, Afghanistan and the CIMIC Officer at the time promised to come and see everyone at the home when her deployment finished. The Manager received a call the other day from Captain Winchester who said she had finished her deployment and as soon as she had taken a much earned rest she would be down to see us, she also said that if there was anything she could ever do for the home just ask and she would see how she could help. The Manager said " how about jumping out of a plane 12000Ft tandem skydive" with out hesitation she agreed and so around June time during a break in her armed forces duties she will be our jumper.
