HOME
The home was built around 1915 on the old Brimley Farm Estate and has gone through several name changes, firstly called Underbank and then by 1937 the name had been changed to Ardlussa then around the mid 1950's the house was divided into 2 separate homes and another name change to Ashdown. It was not until 1993 that the home was finally one again when the current owners purchased the property next door. During the years the home also has had different usage from a family home to a bed and breakfast and finally to most probably one of Teignmouth's premier residential care home catering for people with Learning Disabilities.
Ashdown is located on the North Eastern side of Teignmouth approximately half a mile from the town centre and sea front, the home is located on the local bus route and is close to the railway station as well as churches from several denominations.
From the home and surrounding area there are beautiful views across the bay towards Torbay and Exmouth.
Within the main home for the residents use and pleasure are a Communal Sitting / TV Lounge, Dinning Room and Sun Lounge.
The bedrooms are located in 3 areas of the home, on the first floor are 6 single rooms while there are 2 wings on the ground floor where the other 4 single and 1 double rooms are located these are all decorated to the residents wishes.
Most rooms benefit from sea or garden view while the ground floor rooms are suitable for people with mobility problems.
